Kitchen Renovations Canberra
We renovate kitchens for Canberra homeowners: layout changes, benchtops, splashbacks, tiling and finishes, with the owner running the job from the first visit to the final clean.
A kitchen renovation is the whole room, not a new splashback on an old plan. Apex Bathrooms ACT is family-owned, has been working in homes here since 2008, and holds NSW contractor licence 309929C in the Kitchen, Bathroom, Laundry Renovator class.
Who a kitchen renovation suits
It suits you if the room fails in ways paint will not fix.
- The layout has you walking around the room to cook in it, or two people cannot work in it at once.
- The benchtop is worn, too short, or in the wrong place.
- The splashback and the tiles have had enough, and replacing them alone would leave the rest of the room looking older.
What we do, step by step
- A site visit and a written quote. Oleg sees the room and gives you a written, itemised quote.
- The layout and the finishes. We settle where everything goes and what it is made of.
- The licensed trades. If the sink, the cooktop or the power moves, that is work for licensed trades and its own line on the quote. Gas cooktop clearances are set by the appliance manufacturer and confirmed by the gas fitter, and we check them before anything is cut or ordered.
- Tiling, the benchtop and the splashback. Our own crew lays the floor and wall tiles and fits the splashback; the benchtops go in as part of the same job.
- Finishes and the final clean. The room is finished, cleaned and handed back.
What to decide before we quote
- Whether the layout moves. Moving the sink or the cooktop moves the plumbing, the gas or the power with it, at its own cost. Most houses here are slab-on-ground, so moving a fixture means cutting concrete.
- The benchtop. Engineered stone is not on the list: its supply and installation have been prohibited in Australia since 1 July 2024. We talk through the material on the site visit.
- The splashback. Tile, mosaic, glass, granite or a custom print. Our guide to splashback options sets them side by side.
- The tiles. Ceramic, porcelain, natural stone or mosaic; porcelain is the harder of the first two. Our tiles and materials guide compares them, and the floor tiling guide covers what goes under a new floor.
When a full renovation is not the right choice
If the layout works and the benchtop is sound, you do not need a renovation. A new splashback is a much smaller job, and Apex Bathrooms ACT completes most splashback installations in a day. If only the tiles have had enough, retiling is the smaller job again.
